Zusammenfassung
Ein moderater Alkoholgenuss gilt als akzeptabel. Dieser ist definiert für Frauen <10 g Alkohol/Tag, für Männer <20 g/Tag. Gefäßprotektive Wirkungen schreibt man hochwertigem Rotwein zu. Alkohol ist aber ein Zellgift, u.a. myotoxisch. Es führt über 24 Stunden zu einer verminderten Herzleistung, führt oft zu einer progredienten Herzinsuffizienz, ist arrhythmogen – gehäuft mit VES, SVES, Salven und Tachyarrhythmien – und induziert als Zellgift einen Abbau von Muskulatur. Die diabetische Neuropathie tritt schneller in Zusammenhang mit Alkohol auf.
