Zusammenfassung
Der Verletzungsmechanismus und die Art der Verletzung sowie die objektivierbaren klinischen Befunde spielen die entscheidende Rolle für die Einschätzung und Beurteilung im Hinblick auf die adäquate Behandlung. Je präziser die zusammengetragenen Informationen aus Anamnese, klinischer Untersuchung und Verlaufsentwicklung sind, umso einfacher ist es, das vorliegende Trauma, die Läsionshöhe und Tiefe der Nervenverletzung zu erkennen. Elektrophysiologische Untersuchungen inklusive der intraoperativen Untersuchungen sind ein wertvolles Hilfsmittel für die Entscheidungsfindung. Die sich zunehmend entwickelnden und praktikablen bildgebenden Möglichkeiten, hier vor allem die Neurosonographie, haben wesentlich dazu beigetragen, in unklaren Fällen die Entscheidung für oder gegen eine Freilegung zu einem früheren Zeitpunkt treffen zu können.
