Zusammenfassung
In der überwiegenden Zahl der Fälle führen umschriebene intrakranielle (supratentorielle) Prozesse zu Veränderungen im EEG. Vor Einführung der Computertomographie hatte das EEG in der Diagnostik lokaler zerebraler Erkrankungen einen hohen Stellenwert. Denn der nächste Schritt in der Diagnostik war dann bereits ein operativer Eingriff, nämlich die zerebrale Angiographie oder die Luftenzephalographie. Heute hat angesichts der bildgebenden neuroradiologischen Methoden (MRT) das EEG in der Primärdiagnostik umschriebener Hirnprozesse an Bedeutung verloren. Dieser Wandel bedeutete jedoch nicht den Rückzug des EEG aus diesem Bereich der Diagnostik. Vielmehr musste hier der Stellenwert des EEG neu definiert werden. ◘ Abb. 9.1 zeigt die Wertigkeit des EEG für die Beurteilung des Ausmaßes und der Art der Funktionsstörung sowie für Lokalisierung und Artdiagnose der hirnlokalen Erkrankung im Vergleich mit dem klinischen Befund und der MRT.
