Abstract
Graphene is a single sheet of carbon atoms in hexagonal arrangement. The carbon bond length is dC−C = 0.142 nm (Fig. 17.1). It can be prepared from graphite via micromechanical cleavage, i.e. mechanical exfoliation (repeated peeling) of small mesas of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite [1004, 1005].
