Abstract
The ease to perform endoscopic procedures depends on the proper understanding of the ergonomics of the instruments for such procedures. Since the access to the body cavities is managed by passing the instruments through ports, knowledge of the working field parameters and the degree of freedom outside and within the body cavity are important to utilize their full potential during the procedures. Improper information about instrument ergonomics can increase the technical difficulties in a basic procedure which may result in injury or undesired conversion of the procedure to an open one. The chapter also deals with the aspects of the handle grips in terms of designs and parameters for optimal use as well as the multi-functionality of such handle grips.
