Abstract
In this chapter applications of laser-induced dynamic gratings in real-time holography and phase conjugation are reviewed. The chapter begins with a short introduction to holography and optical computing. Applications of dynamic hologram recording include erasable holographic storage of information, realtime interferometry, real-time recording of optical components such as holographic lenses, prisms etc. and applications in optical signal processing. Nonlinear optical phase conjugation by four-wave mixing in dynamic recording media is discussed. Phase conjugation with cw lasers using photorefractive materials (BaTiO3, KNbO3, ...) and the possibility of self-pumping a phase-conjugate mirror using such materials is described, together with the applications of these mirrors in optical resonators.
