Die Wirtschaft der Russischen Föderation weist seit 1999 ein rasches Wachstum auf, das bislang weitgehend ohne Unterbrechung verläuft. Besonders die Investitionstätigkeit nimmt rasch zu, seit 1999 mit einer durchschnittlichen realen Rate von knapp 10 Prozent. Die Investitionen wachsen damit rascher als das BIP — knapp 7 Prozent — und das ist fast die nötige Rate von 7.2 Prozent für die von Putin geforderte Verdoppelung des BIP in 10 Jahren.
