Zusammenfassung
Nach einer geschichtlichen Einführung wird der Rational-Choice-Ansatz dargestellt. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Vorgehensweise zur Erklärung sozialer Sachverhalte. Es folgt eine Darstellung der Theorie rationalen Handelns, die Bedingungen für soziales Handeln enthält. Im Anschluss wird die Rationalitätsannahme der Theorie ihrer großen Bedeutung wegen gesondert behandelt. Nach der Diskussion wichtiger Kritikpunkte der Theorie und einer Skizze von Anwendungen und empirischen Untersuchungen wird schließlich gezeigt, dass die Theorie große Ähnlichkeiten mit einer Reihe anderer sozialpsychologischer Theorien hat.
