Zusammenfassung
Die Zugehörigkeit zum olympischen Sportprogramm ist für die Sportarten und deren Verbände von zentraler Bedeutung. Sie sichert ihnen internationale Bekanntheit und fi nanzielle Ressourcen. So wird eine olympische Sportart in Deutschland, ähnlich wie in anderen erfolgreichen Sportnationen, in das staatliche Spitzensportfördersystem eingebunden. Olympische Sportarten werden in schulische Lehrpläne aufgenommen und in Sportvereinen organisiert.
