Zusammenfassung
Die anhaltende Spannung zwischen Rationalisierung und Standardisierung einerseits und Kundenorientierung andererseits, wie sie so typisch für interaktive Dienstleistungsarbeit ist (Korczynski 2002: 85ff.; Jones et al. 1997), findet ihren Ausdruck paradigmatisch im Hotel. Entsprechend ist das Hotel, wie die vorangestellten Zitate zeigen, immer beides: zum einen Projektionsfläche für technizistische Optimierungsphantasien und realer Gegenstand von Industrialisierungsstrategien von Dienstleistungsarbeit, zum anderen mythischer Ort kaum steuerbarer, genuin menschlicher Interaktion.
