Zusammenfassung

Den Disability Studies wird zuweilen mangelnde Theoriearbeit unterstellt, jedoch zeigt die Sichtung des internationalen und interdisziplinären Diskurses ein heterogenes, vielseitiges Spektrum an theoretischen Positionen mit sozial- und kulturwissenschaftlichen Prägungen. Während die Disability Studies den Ansatz von Talcott Parsons distanziert-kritisch rezipieren, nutzen sie die Arbeiten von Erving Goffman und Michel Foucault zum produktiven Weiterdenken. Zunächst werden diese drei Ansätze gewürdigt, um anschließend ausgewählte, zentrale Theoriedebatten der letzten Jahrzehnte vorzustellen.
