Zusammenfassung

Eine explizite buddhistische Wirtschaftsethik wurde erst nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg formuliert und in jüngerer Zeit populär gemacht (vgl. Brown/Zsolnai 2018). Eine Trennung von Theorie und Ethik kennt der Buddhismus nicht, auch nicht in ökonomischen Fragen. Zsolnai vermutet in einer buddhistischen Wirtschaftsethik „a major alternative to the Western economic minds”, und Lennerfors erblickt in der buddhistischen Ökonomie „a potential future for capitalism.”
