Zusammenfassung
Im Panorama der antiken Literatur gilt Ovid als Dichter der Form, der Oberfläche, der poetischen Spiele par excellence (s. Rimell 2019). Seine Vorliebe für Gattungsexperimente und -überschreitungen macht ihn zum Grenzgänger. Bemerkenswert ist aber, dass gerade in den Anfangsgedichten, die als programmatisch für die Poetik eines neuen Werkes gelten, poetologische Aussagen und formelle Spiele häufig mit Bildern starker Materialität zusammengehen (zum materiellen Denken der spätrepublikanischen und augusteischen Dichtung, s. Schwindt 2015).
