Vielfalt und Reichtum der Musiken der Welt sind nur zu rezipieren und zu analysieren, wenn diese »live«, in Form von Transkripten und Notensätzen oder auf Tonträgern verfügbar sind. Über Jahrhunderte haben Menschen in den verschiedenen Weltregionen musiziert, ohne voneinander zu wissen und zu hören, doch immer auch waren »Erstbegegnungen« zwischen Fremden über Klänge vermittelt und konnte Musik als verbindendes Element eine Brücke bauen oder auch verstören.
