Mit Corpus iuris canonici wird – nach dem bei der Ankündigung einer von Papst Gregor XIII. veranstalteten offiziellen Ausgabe 1580 verwendeten Begriff – die umfassende Sammlung des Rechts der mittelalterlichen Kirche bezeichnet, die aus unterschiedlichen sich gegenseitig ergänzenden Rechtssammlungen seit 1140 entstanden war.
