Optimierungsprobleme, die im Rahmen von Implementierungsprozessen auftauchen und mit Hilfe von Controlling-Ansätzen und -instrumenten transparenter und greifbarer gemacht und schließlich unter Kenntnis eines spezifischen Zielsystems gelöst werden können, stellen die originäre Begründung für ein Implementierungscontrolling dar. Daneben kann es bei Bedarf auch als Instrument zur Rechenschaftslegung über bereits abgeschlossene Implementierungs-projekte dienen.
