Abstract
Die Steigerungsraten des Handels im Internet sind rasant. Vergleicht man Abwicklung und Geschäftsvorgänge jedoch mit dem klassischen Versandhandel, so stellt sich die Frage, ob der Handel im Internet nur die Fortsetzung bestehenden Fernmarketings mit Hilfe eines neuen Mediums ist. Trotz dieser Relativierung ist die Cyberwirtschaft durchaus Brutstätte für junge Unternehmen. Nicht zuletzt deshalb, weil das Internet effizientes Testmarketing, Analyse des Verbraucherverhaltens und Branding gestattet. Die Zukunft manchen Unternehmens, welches sich zunächst im Internet positionierte und eine starke Marke etablierte, könnte durchaus in real vorhandenen und begehbaren Filialgeschäften liegen. Die Cyberwirtschaft als New York des 21. Jahrhunderts? Frei nach Frank Sinatra: „If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.“
