Zusammenfassung
Mit Personen gleicher Sprache, gleicher Kultur, gleichen Glaubens oder gleicher Überzeugung Zusammensein zu wollen — das ist an sich nicht tadelnswert. Vielleicht bildet sogar, wie die Kommunitaristen meinen, die soziale Identität — welche auch immer — eine grundlegende Komponente der Entwicklung und Entfaltung der Persönlichkeit eines jeden von uns. Selbst wenn sich Gruppen oder Gemeinschaften unvermeidlich durch die mit Zugehörigkeit einhergehende Einschränkung konstitutieren, das heißt, durch die Herausbildung eines „Wir-Gefühls“1, erzeugt die daraus resultierende Unterscheidung zwischen Mitgliedern und Nicht-Mitgliedern der Gruppe nicht automatisch eine Logik der Antagonismen (Mohr 2001). Sie tut das nur, wenn das Überleben der Gruppe auf dem Spiel steht oder wenn die Politik die identitätsstiftenden Gefühle der Mitglieder einer Gemeinschaft zugunsten einer Ideologie der Expansion oder der Exklusion instrumentalisiert. Die Bande des Zusammenhalts dienen der Gruppe so als Kriterien für die Ausgrenzung von Außenstehenden. Und wenn eine solche Ausgrenzung sich in eine Hierarchie von Werten einordnet, dann wird sie begleitet von Zeichen der Intoleranz, des Rassismus und der Xenophobie.
