Zusammenfassung
Es ist nicht eine der unwichtigsten Aufgaben der Soziologie, immer wieder die vielfältigen Beobachtungen sozialen Wandels in der gegenwärtigen Gesellschaft auf einen Begriff zu bringen, der sie theoretisch verdichtet und der als authentische Selbstthematisierung der Gesellschaft akzeptiert werden kann. Problematisch werden solche diagnostischen Versuche nur, wenn sie überhandnehmen und wenn sie zuwenig empirisch abgesichert sind. Produktiv wirken sie, weil, sie theoretische Diskussionen und empirische Ergebnisse über längere Zeit erfolgreich orientieren können.
