Zusammenfassung

Auf der Grundlage empirischer Untersuchungen der Adoleszenz in Asien wird die gegenwärtige Situation der Jugendlichen analysiert, um Schlussfolgerungen für die weitere Entwicklung zu ziehen. Adoleszenz wird in Hinblick auf die Bindungen der Jugendlichen an die Familie, an die Gleichaltrigen und in bezug auf Schule, Ausbildung und Studium betrachtet. Aus den Ergebnissen resultiert die These, dass sich die grundlegenden asiatischen Wertvorstellungen nicht verändern werden und es den Jugendlichen gelingen wird, neue gesellschaftliche Einflüsse psychisch und sozial zu integrieren.

Abstract

On the basis of empirical work on adolescence in Asia we describe the present situation of adolescents in Asia with the objective of drawing conclusions for future development of youth research. Adolescence is considered with regard to youth’s commitment to their families and peers as well as education, occupational training, and academic career. The results lead to the assumption that changes of basic Asian values are unlikely. Young people will be able to manage to integrate new social influences mentally and socially.
