In this paragraph we shall answer the following question: under what conditions can one separate disjoint convex subsets A, B of a (real) linear space E by a hyperplane?

Literature
Separation theorems for convex sets in linear and normed linear spaces are proved in many books on functional analysis, e. g. KOETHE [44]. In our presentation and notation we have largely followed HOLMES [36].
