Zusammenfassung
Soziologen haben unterschiedliche Forschungsperspektiven und Ziele. Ich halte es mit jenen, die der Auffassung sind, Soziologie müsse letztlich immer die Struktur der Gesellschaft als ein System von Beziehungen zwischen sozialen Positionen zum Gegenstand haben, und fragen, wie jene Beziehungen konstituiert, reproduziert und transformiert werden (Bhaskar 1998). Wenn wir an einer Soziologie arbeiten, die Kindheit als beteiligt an der Strukturbildungder sozialen Ordnung begreift, müssen wir die Beziehungen zwischen Kindheit und Erwachsenheit studieren. Es geht dann nicht um individuelle Kinder in ihren Beziehungen zu individuellen Erwachsenen, sondern darum, wie es kommt, dass Kindheit auf bestimmte Weise definiert, gelebt und erfahren wird. Wir haben es mit intergenerationalen Beziehungen zwischen dem sozialen Status der Kindheit und dem sozialen Status der Erwachsenheit zu tun.
