Abstract
The aim of this chapter is to lay the foundation for the control problems discussed in Chapter 6 where the boundary control plays an essential role. Here first elliptic boundary value problems are treated where particular emphasis is placed on the appropriate flexible treatment of essential non-homogeneous boundary conditions. An approach meeting this goal is to formulate the elliptic boundary value problem as a saddle point problem in Section 4.2.1.
