Abstract
The purpose of the study was to establish the underlying factors that determine the measurement scale of sustainable leadership. The empirical quantitative study was done on 6 universities selected from 29 universities using simple random sampling technique in SPSS version 22. A 25-item survey tool was distributed to randomly selected respondents from 6 universities using the permission letters secured from both Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) and individual universities. After data screening and cleaning, 300 questionnaires emerged reasonable for further analysis. Exploratory factor analysis was used to arrive at the four dimensions of measuring sustainable leadership construct. The study recommends that university management should fill the missing gaps by opening up more opportunities of training staff to take up new positions to help universities change their performance level. Since the study was a cross sectional in nature, future research can be done on others universities in different parts of the country using longitudinal research technique.
