Abstract

This chapter undertakes four major interrelated tasks. First, the chapter provides the context for the book by surveying some of the major dimensions of the African condition. Second, it lays out the purposes of the volume. Third, it delineates the contours of the book’s theoretical framework. Fourth, it summarizes the various chapters that constitute the volume.
