Abstract

Engaging students in critical discussion about sex and gender should be a regular feature of “standard” political sciences courses that are not topically dedicated to such issues. This is warranted, even required, for three sets of reasons: practical, theoretical, and pedagogical. The chapter then presents examples of the kinds of approaches and lessons that might be employed in “standard” courses, as well as some reflections on the author’s experience in engaging students in critical discussions about sex and gender.
