Abstract
Acquired hypermelanosis can arise from numerous factors, such as skin problems, systemic disease, or environmental factors, that cause an increase in melanin (in most cases). This chapter covers the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, histopathology, differential diagnosis, and treatment of both common and rare acquired hyperpigmentation disorders.
