Abstract

GAM: In your text “After parametrics?” you react to a rumor that one comes across in architecture schools and journals, that “parametrics is over”. You show just how silly such a statement is by tracing the origins of parametric thinking to Vitruvius. Along the way iou also take a stab at your contemporary colleagues, the promoters of CAD-CAM technology that have “allowed themselves to be locked up in bubbles” as you say. Are they locked up in bubbles because they don’t step back and take the broader view what it is they are doing, such as you do in that text? Should the CAD-CAM field read more Vitruvius?
