Die Mastopathie ist die häufigste gutartige Veränderung der weiblichen Brust. Mehr als die Hälfte aller Frauen ist im Lauf ihres Lebens mehr oder weniger stark von dieser Schwellung oder Verhärtung des Brustdrüsengewebes betroffen. Bei ausgeprägten Formen einer Mastopathie machen sich viele Frauen Sorgen wegen eines erhöhten Brustkrebsrisikos. In den meisten Fällen gibt es jedoch keinen Anlass zu großer Beunruhigung.
