Zusammenfassung
Im Gegensatz zu den Algen sind die Pilze kohlenstoffheterotrophe Landpflanzen. Verschiedene Arten spielen eine grosse Rolle als Nahrungs-, Heil- oder Giftpflanzen. Viele Pilze sind schädliche Parasiten unserer Kulturpflanzen. Andere werden durch den Menschen im Grossen für die Durchführung bestimmter chemischer Prozesse gezüchtet (z.B. Hefen für alkoholische Gärungen). Auch am Stoffumsatz in der Natur sind Pilze in hohem Masse beteiligt. Sie bilden eine wichtige Komponente der Mikroflora der Böden.
