Zusammenfassung
Die Schleimpilze sind chlorophyllfrei und membranlos. Der Thallus ist ein vielkerniges Plasmodium oder ein aus vielen amoeboiden Zellen gebildetes Pseudoplasmodium. Ernährung saprophytisch oder holozoisch (Aufnahme fester Nahrungspartikel). Vermehrung durch in Fruchtkörpern gebildete Sporen. Verbreitet über die ganze Erde, vor allem in humusreicher Erde, auf verfaulendem Pflanzenmaterial und auf Mist.
