Zusammenfassung
Krautige oder holzige Pflanzen mit ungeteilten oder gefiederten, nebenblattlosen Blättern. Blüten meist eingeschlechtig und zweihäusig, in traubigen Blütenständen; ♂ Blüten mit 3–9teiligem Kelch, 0–8 Kronblättern und 4–25 Staubblättern; ♀ (und ♂+) Blüten mit 3–8blättrigem Perianth und unterständigem, einfächerigem Fruchtknoten mit wandständigen Plazenten. Kapselfrüchte mit zahlreichen kleinen Samen. Samen mit Endosperm und kleinem Embryo.
