Kleine ericaceenartige Sträuchlein mit ericoiden Blättern. Blüten regelmässig, zwittrig oder eingeschlechtig, einzeln oder in endständigen kopfigen Blütenständen; Kelch und Krone 2- oder 3blättrig, nicht verwachsen; Staubblätter 2 bis 4; Fruchtknoten oberständig, 2–9fächerig, mit einer Samenanlage mit einem Integument in jedem Fach. Steinfrüchte. Samen mit Endosperm.
