Abstract

The theory of Lagrangian intersections studies one of the most surprising phenomena in symplectic topology. In this chapter we review some results from this theory which being combined with the linearization idea above give a rather powerful tool for investigation of the geometry of the group of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms.
