Fundamental and Applied Scientific Research in the Development of Agriculture in the Far East (AFE-2022) (AFE 2023)

Abstract

Purpose: conduct an analysis of Russian international agricultural trade, assess its role in the global food market. Methods. In the course of the scientific research, such methods as monographic, econometric, analytical, abstract-logical, as well as the method of monitoring studies were used. Results. The analysis showed that in recent years Russia has become a major exporter of food. This was facilitated by the Russian government’s efforts in the early 2000s to restore agricultural production. This was especially noticeable in the crop sector: the production of grains and oilseeds. As a result, by 2017 Russia became the largest exporter of wheat, providing on average about 20% of global exports over 2017–2021. There are also positive trends in meat farming: meat exports have increased. Against the background of Russia's growing influence on the international food market, a retrospective analysis of its production and trade activities in agricultural raw materials and food, as well as possible trends and prospects for further development under increasing sanctions pressure from Western countries is of interest.
