Abstract

Full duplex (FD) communication device transmits and receives wireless signals at the same time and at the same frequency, which could double the spectral efficiency. This paper focuses on the user assignment for a multi-user and multi-antenna cellular network where the FD base station (BS) simultaneously communicates with half-duplex (HD) uplink and downlink users. From the generalized degree of freedom (GDoF), we provide an optimal user assignment method for the FD multi-user multi-antenna network. The optimality problem is formulated as a linear program for bipartite graph. Furthermore, we prove that the optimal user assignment can be found by solving two maximum weighted matching problems in polynomial time. Simulation results show that the proposed user assignment achieves significant sum throughput improvement.
