Frontiers – Law, Theory and Cases

Abstract

Through the years, the concept of ‘frontier’ has had a radical evolution, sometimes related to a specific empirical reality. This is crucial in understanding the different cases in the world related to land frontiers. For these reasons, the present chapter is divided into two big thematic axes: At first, the general characterization of the concept ‘frontier’, which includes the principal classical theoretical approaches, and secondly, an international comparison, including The United States, Europe, and Latin America.

Result of doctoral research in the Doctorate in Political Studies at Universidad Externado de Colombia, in Bogotá.
