Abstract

There are three main issues that are holding back the widespread adoption of RFID: design, cost and public acceptance. So much commercial interest has been building around this technology that adoption is reaching a tipping point and the remaining technical problems are the focus of much attention. New developments are described in the press on a weekly basis, and progress towards workable solutions is likely to be swift. Below we consider the challenges in more detail.
