Abstract

This study proposes a Model Adaptive Reference System (MRAS) speed estimator scheme based on the stator flux of an induction motor (IM) controlled by Fuzzy Direct Torque Control (FDTC). Compared to existing estimators, the proposed solution represents a simple structure with less computational effort. It is based on an adaptation model to generate the estimated speed. Fuzzy logic is also introduced to improve the performance of classic DTC. The efficiency of the studied scheme is verified by simulation in the Matlab/simulink environment for different operating conditions. The results obtained showed excellent speed response in terms of speed, stability and precision and a significant reduction in torque and flux ripples.
