Abstract
The industrialized building process has encouraged the utilization of new Information Technologies to boost the productivity and quality of construction projects. The use of the BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology combined with real time monitoring of the construction site can improve the planning throughout the building lifecycle. In the framework of the ANR McBIM Project, intelligent building products made of communicating concrete are currently being designed. These products, equipped with micro-electronic devices, can report their statuses in real-time. This paper thus investigates the use of such products combined with BIM technologies and explores the potential benefits in terms of cost for the management of construction sites, depending on their organization pattern.
