Abstract
During the period 2007–2013, there were 11,520 reported cases of domestic violence in Trinidad and Tobago, a small twin island republic comprising a total of 1.3 million persons. Approximately three hundred women were killed in what officials termed “domestic violence disputes” during the period 2005–2015 and according to all reports, these statistics have been increasing. This chapter will examine some of the measures and prescriptions that have been introduced in this twin island republic to minimize incidents of domestic violence and some of the challenges experienced in implementing these measures.
