Abstract
This chapter illustrates the evolution of Canadian police engagement in United Nations peacekeeping operations throughout the world. Through memoirs, it details the individual abilities of police officers to immediately adapt, engage, and innovate in the face of unexpected adversities. From the 1989 Namibian Independence Day assignment to the National Police Reform and Earthquake response in Haiti, the chapter chronicles the officers’ participation in peace monitoring, election monitoring, police reform, restoring civil order, and implementing democratic policing. The chapter also showcases Canada’s continued commitment towards world peace, security, conflict prevention and peacebuilding.
