Abstract
The 2019 Women’s World Cup was a media and cultural phenomenon, with record-setting audiences tuning in to watch these athletes’ mastery on the pitch—and the athletes often used this platform to advocate for change. In this introduction, editors Yanity and Coombs explore the impetus behind and purpose for this volume and provide a brief overview of each chapter to follow.
