Abstract
In this chapter, Jonathan Metzl directly connects racism with the recent phenomenon of rising White death rates, declining health indices, and increasing poverty. Metzl explains how state policies shaped by White supremacy increase mortality rates in much the same way as other manmade health risks, such as pollution.
