Impacts of Racism on White Americans In the Age of Trump

Abstract

Each of the preceding chapters provided insights about White racism and its effects on Whites. The advantage of studying racism through an anthology of contributors is that the range of insights and expertise is wide enough to provide a big picture, a challenge for single authors to do. The disadvantage is that the book may seem fragmented. In this summary chapter, we review the contribution of each. We highlight contributors’ insights and draw on the relevant findings of this book’s two prior editions. Forty years of reflection and research are brought to bear. We summarize the impacts of racism on White Americans at this critical point in our nation’s history—in the age of Trump.
