Abstract

Mexico is a country of contrasts. It has the second largest economy in Latin America and is a major oil exporter. However, economic crises, political instability, natural disasters, and a deep socio-economic gap have meant that prosperity remains a dream for many Mexicans. The informal sector still predominates the workforce, and almost half of the country’s population lives in poverty. CSR policies are more and more evolving, but for the majority of companies in Mexico, social responsibility finds itself still in an initial state, and is rather considered a philanthropic issue with no relation to the policies of the companies. In this context, CSR-related preferences of young job seekers, especially concerning employee responsibility, are relatively pronounced and reflect a concern for a good, secure and fair work environment.
