Abstract

This paper presents a method for detecting abnormal content in vibration spectra obtained from jet engine. Jet engines are machines with high speed turbine-compressor assembly (spool). In order to ensure the functionality of the engine core, a large number of bearings, gears, intermediate shafts are required that are interconnected and depend on the basic engine speed. Many aircraft today have engines that do not have vibration measurement and monitoring devices integrated. Most often, these are “old” engines, in which, in addition to failures of individual bearings, gear assemblies and shafts, they can be caused by material characteristics and structural integrity. Most often, the cause of vibration problems of old engines can be detected and eliminated only by using test bench equipped with vibration measuring and analysis devices. The paper is described on an analysis of vibration frequency spectrum at Rolls&Royce Viper 22-8 engine with aim to identify the engine malfunction.
