Abstract

“Theology and Reason” In this chapter, Lorkowski sets the groundwork and context for an analysis of theological arguments, especially those that try to show the existence of a higher power. The author first limns the distinction between natural and revealed theology, and then argues that the former should take precedence over the latter. Lorkowski then refutes two common families of view, that we should not apply reason to theological matters and that we cannot apply reason to theological matters. Finally, the author briefly outlines how arguments are to be evaluated generally before situating natural theology of this type into the Western tradition.
