Abstract
Effectiveness is a common term, but it is not sufficiently defined. Effectiveness is often confused with performance and not considered as the basis for the systemic sustainability of organizations. The paper focuses on the essence of effectiveness as an economical category through the prism of implementing managerial activities in the current and long-term periods of organizations. The genesis of various approaches to assessing effectiveness is examined, and various methodological recommendations for assessing the level of effectiveness are analyzed. The special attention is paid to the methods and tools of managerial influences that ensure the effective functioning and development of organizations. The authors define the category of “effectiveness” in a broad and narrow sense, in the tactical and strategic aspects of the activity of socio-economic systems. The authors state that successful long-term commercial activities of the organizations are based on the balance between the economic and social interests of its stakeholders. A model for management activities to ensure the effectiveness of the socio-economic system is proposed.
