Abstract
This book demonstrates clearly an Amazonia in radical transformation with dramatic landscape changes, wildlife in danger and local peoples in jeopardy. Human and natural resources in Amazonia are under threat with a record of devastation of forested areas. Nevertheless, the volume reveals that there are promising developments which have to be encouraged in order to find a way out of this crisis.
